About Kara,

ACOL-39.jpg

Like many of my peers in the health and wellness space, it’s personal experience that often finds us on this path.  My early career saw 15 years rising through London media agencies and transitioned client side to a senior in-house media role for the world’s leading soft drinks company.

The long hours and demands of corporate life were thrilling but grueling. Whilst my career was thriving, I masked an emotionally traumatic personal life; experiencing the decline of my mother to terminal brain disease. The sudden death of my father.  A miscarriage and complications in subsequent pregnancies.

Building a successful career, dealing with personal trauma and starting a young family, not to mention a major house renovation all took its toll on my health.  As I entered my 40’s, I was exhausted, functioning through brain fog, insomnia, peri-menopause and living on a cocktail of painkillers, alcohol and sugar.  I was suffering with recurring bouts of eczema, digestive issues, migraines, stubborn weight to the point of pre-diabetes and low mood swing and an acne flare for the first time since my teenage years.  I just felt awful; physically, mentally and emotionally.

I set upon making changes to feel better in my mind, body and soul. My own health issues provided the trigger to seek out a new direction as I leaned into nutrition and wellness seeking to prioritise my own health and that of my young family. But I was also on a quest to understand more about how nutrition could help to prevent the onset of the chronic disease that took my wonderful parents so soon and robbed my children of their grandparents.  I was determined to not allow history to repeat itself,

For me, it was about looking into the future, investing in my healthspan, thriving - not just living, preventing chronic disease with my own genetic predispositions and optimising health.  This lead to return to studying for a 3 year, Level 6 Diploma in Nutritional Therapy from the College of Naturopathic Medicine (CNM), qualifying with Distinction.

My Nutritional Therapy practice works with clients nationally and internationally, delivering personalised nutrition protocols to suit their unique biochemistry.  Nutrition protocals coupled with lifestyle advice supports individuals to achieve optimal health and peak performance to help them in work, at home and at play.
